I Hold My Heart Together, a poem by Drem

This poem has been untitled for years. I can’t figure out one so I’m just going to go for it and commit to something. Anything.

If you find it interesting, comment.

I wrote this two years ago. I was a little kid. Awwww.

I Hold My Heart Together, a poem by Drem

November 20, 2013

“Mouth shut.

Eyes wide.

I hold the power

inside

my head

and I

hold on

to it

in my heart

keeping it

a part

from you.

You can’t have it.

I’m afraid to fall in love.

I’m afraid to let you in.

I’m just some chubby girl

in this spinning world

who suffers from motion sickness.

Just existing

is enough

to get me nauseous and dizzy.

The fear fuels my fire

that drives in

and keeps strong

my heart’s

resistance

to the likes of handsome men

and boys like you.

I won’t let you

tear my heart

apart

again.

I’m the one

who keeps

the pieces

of my heart

together.

  1. Although you spelt nauseous wrong, I really enjoyed this poem. Very emotional and straight from the heart. My favorite parts are
“I’m afraid to fall in love.

I’m afraid to let you in.

    I’m just some chubby girl

    in this spinning world

    who suffers from motion sickness.

    Just existing

    is enough

to get me nauseas and dizzy.”

Because I feel those speak the loudest in this poem.
